Concrete: Specification, Performance, Production, and Conformity
Also Known As:
The BS EN 206:2013+A1:2016 standard provides technical rules for the production of concrete used in structures designed according to BS EN 1992-1-1. The standard applies to ready-mixed concrete, site-mixed concrete, and concrete used in pre-cast elements. It is intended for use by construction contractors, specialists, manufacturers, specifiers, and structural engineers who require or provide information on concrete.
The standard offers five approaches for specifying concrete, including designated concretes, designed concretes, prescribed concretes, standardized prescribed concretes, and proprietary concretes. Part 2 of the standard contains specifications for constituent materials and concrete.
The 2016 Amendment introduces more clauses that refer to national provisions and includes a new annex, Annex M, which provides additional guidance on national provisions. It is important to note that UK national provisions can be found in BS 8500-1 and BS 8500-2, and any national departures from the standard, unless stated in Annex M, are not permitted.
