Standard EN SampleRailway Applications: Infrastructure - Performance Requirements of Rail Fastening Systems for Tramways
Also Known As:
The BS EN 17319:2020 standard sets out the requirements for fastening systems used with grooved rails on tram, urban rail, and industrial tracks. These requirements apply to fastening systems that act on the foot and/or web of the rail, in accordance with the grooved rail profiles specified in EN 14811.
The standard specifies that it is applicable to type approval of a complete fastening assembly, indicating that the entire system must meet the performance requirements outlined in the standard. It should be noted that the maximum axle load limit stated in Table 1 does not apply to maintenance vehicles.
However, it is important to clarify that this standard does not cover fastening systems for other rail sections, special fastening systems used at bolted joints or glued joints, or fastening systems used in switches and crossings for grooved rails. For fastenings used with Vignole rails, the EN 13481 series of standards should be consulted for the applicable requirements.
