Standard EN SampleRailway Applications: Track. Performance Requirements for Fastening Systems. Fastening Systems for Concrete Sleepers
Also Known As:
BS EN 13481-2:2012+A1:2017 standard applies to fastening systems used on concrete sleepers in ballasted track with specific maximum axle loads and minimum curve radii as specified in the standard. The standard categorizes fastening systems into Categories A-E, as defined in BS EN 13481-1:2012, for which the requirements of this standard are applicable.
The standard covers a range of fastening systems, including those that act on the foot and/or web of the rail, such as direct and indirect fastening systems. The fastening systems should have a dynamic stiffness, denoted as kLFA, that is not less than 50 MN/m. It is worth noting that the standard applies to fastening systems for rail sections specified in BS EN 13674-1 (excluding the 49E4 section) or BS EN 13674-4.
However, the standard does not apply to fastening systems for other rail sections, rigid fastening systems, or special fastening systems used at bolted or glued joints. Furthermore, it is important to note that this standard is intended for the type approval of complete fastening systems.
