Standard EN SampleRailway Applications - Track - Performance Requirements for Fastening Systems - Fastening Systems for Track with Heavy Axle Loads
Also Known As:
BS EN 13481-8:2006 is a standard that specifies the performance requirements for fastening systems used in railway track with heavy axle loads. The standard applies to fastening systems used on concrete, wood, and steel sleepers in mainline ballasted tracks with a minimum radius of curvature of 80m and a maximum design axle load of 350kN. The requirements of the standard apply to both direct fastening systems and systems incorporating a baseplate. It also includes fastening systems for specific rail sections as defined in EN 13674-1 and EN 13674-4.
However, it should be noted that this standard does not apply to fastening systems used for other rail sections, rigid fastening systems, or special fastening systems used at bolted joints. The standard is specifically for the type approval of a complete fastening assembly and provides guidelines for ensuring that the fastening system meets the necessary performance requirements for tracks subjected to heavy axle loads.
