The BS EN 1858:2008+A1:2011 standard specifies the requirements for precast concrete flue blocks used in chimneys. These flue blocks can be single wall or multi-wall construction and are not intended for use with back ventilation. The standard does not cover flue blocks designated as wet (W) with corrosion class 3.
The standard includes specifications for a type of flue block that coordinates with masonry unit coursing height, called a type B or bonding block. It also applies to storey-height and reinforced flue blocks to facilitate handling.
It should be noted that the term "flue blocks" in this standard encompasses both the blocks themselves and their fittings, unless otherwise specified.
