Standard EN SampleClay Pavers: Requirements and Test Methods
Also Known As:
BS EN 1344:2013 is a European standard that outlines the requirements and test methods for clay pavers used in both flexible and rigid construction forms. The standard applies to rectangular and other shaped clay units that are used in pavements, including roofs and internal applications. The flexible form of construction is intended for pedestrian and vehicular traffic, while the rigid form of construction is primarily for pedestrian traffic.
This standard specifies the characteristics and classes of performance for clay pavers and provides corresponding test methods to evaluate these characteristics. It also includes provisions for product marking and conformity evaluation. The standard covers clay pavers with or without coatings and with or without post firing chemical treatment, as long as they do not contain asbestos fibres or formaldehyde. However, it excludes clay products intended for refractory and chemical engineering applications, as well as clay floor tiles and clay masonry units. Additionally, the standard does not cover clay pavers with tactile surfaces.
