Extended Application of Test Results for Fire Resistance and/or Smoke Control for Door, Shutter and Openable Window Assemblies, Including Their Elements of Building Hardware. Smoke Control for Doors, Shutters, Operable Fabric Curtains and Openable Windows
Also Known As:
BS EN 15269-20:2020 is a standard that is applicable to doors, shutters, openable windows, and fabric curtains of various materials. It provides guidelines for the extended application of test results obtained from tests conducted in accordance with EN 1634-3. This standard covers a wide range of door and window types, including hinged and pivoted doors and windows, horizontally and vertically moving steel sliding doors, and metal rolling shutters and operable fabric curtains. However, it does not cover certain types of construction products such as unframed glass doors and windows, sectional doors, folding doors, and certain types of sliding doors.
This standard specifies the methodology for extending the application of test results and provides examples of the areas that can be covered by the extended application. These areas include ambient temperature smoke control and medium temperature smoke control classifications, different elements of the door or window assembly such as leaf/leaves, wall/ceiling fixed elements, glazed elements, louvres, and vents. It also covers items of building hardware, decorative finishes, seals such as intumescent, smoke, draught or acoustic seals, and alternative supporting constructions.
