Electric Fence Energizers-Safety Requirements for Battery-Operated Electric Fence Energizers not for Connection to the Supply Mains
Also Known As: CSA CAN/CSA-IEC E1011-2-94
The CAN/CSA-E1011-2-94 standard specifies safety requirements for battery-operated electric fence energizers that are not designed to be connected to the supply mains. The standard applies to energizers with a rated supply voltage of up to 36 V DC. Examples of electric fence energizers within the scope of this standard include those operated by non-rechargeable batteries, those operated by separate accumulators, those intended to be connected to a battery charger not designed for connection to the supply mains, and those incorporating a dry battery or accumulator that can only be recharged when removed from the energizer.
It is important to note that the standard acknowledges the potential incorporation of electronic circuits or components in these energizers. It is also stated that the requirements for battery-operated electric fence energizers that are suitable for connection to the supply mains and have facilities for charging the batteries from the supply mains are covered in a separate standard, namely IEC Publication 1011-1.
