The DIN EN 1090-4 standard is focused on the execution of steel structures and aluminum structures, specifically addressing the technical requirements for cold-formed structural steel elements and cold-formed structures used in roof, ceiling, floor, and wall applications. This standard applies to structures designed according to the EN 1993 series, and it may also be used for structures designed according to other design rules, as long as the execution conditions comply with them and any additional requirements are specified.
The standard covers the execution, including the manufacturing and installation processes, of cold-formed structural steel members and sheeting. It also includes requirements for the execution of structures made from cold-formed profiled sheeting for roof, ceiling, floor, and wall applications. These structures are subject to predominantly static loading or seismic loading conditions.
Additionally, the DIN EN 1090-4 standard specifies the requirements for documentation related to the execution of these structures. It covers sheeting of structural classes I and II according to EN 1993-1-3 in use within structures, as well as structural members of all structural classes according to EN 1993-1-3.
