Aggregates for Railway Ballast - Part 2: Complementary Information
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13450-2 standard provides additional information and guidance to complement the requirements stated in Part 1 of the standard. Part 1 of the standard specifies the characteristics of aggregates used in the construction of the upper layer of railway tracks, particularly focusing on railway ballast.
The standard defines railway ballast as aggregates with particles that are completely crushed, and that are derived from natural, manufactured, or recycled crushed unbound aggregates. These aggregates primarily consist of coarse particles.
The purpose of Part 2 is to offer non-contradictory supplementary information for the practical implementation of the requirements outlined in Part 1. This includes guidance on the reasons for carrying out specific tests and declaring different characteristics of the aggregates. Additionally, the standard provides recommendations for the practical application of factory production control measures.
