Until then, when such materials are used as railway ballast, they must comply with this standard and may also need to conform to specific additional requirements at the place of use.

Additionally, the standard mentions that requirements for the declaration of the potential release of regulated dangerous substances from railway ballast are still being developed. Until these requirements are finalized, compliance with the requirements at the place of use should be ensured.
