The DIN EN 536 standard establishes the safety requirements for stationary and relocatable mixing plants used in the production of various road construction materials. These materials include hot-mix asphalt, cold-mix asphalt, cement gravel, and bituminous or non-bituminous reclaimed materials. This standard applies to different types of mixing plants, such as hot asphalt mixing plants, cold mixing plants, mixing plants for mastic asphalt, and mixing plants for natural asphalt.
The standard covers the safety requirements related to the construction and maintenance of traffic routes, water retaining works, dam walls, culverts, and other similar structures. It specifically focuses on the safety of the mixing plants and does not include machines that move during the working process or crushers. However, the standard recognizes that these types of asphalt mixing plants can be combined or enlarged with additional installations, such as those for the storage of binders.
