Bitumen and Bituminous Binders - Recovery of Binder from Bituminous Emulsion or Cut-Back or Fluxed Bituminous Binders - Part 1: Recovery by Evaporation
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13074-1 standard describes a method for recovering binder from bituminous emulsions, cut-back bitumen, or fluxed bituminous binders. The purpose of this method is to condition the binder so that it can be further tested with minimal changes to its characteristics. The standard applies to all types of bituminous emulsions, regardless of whether they are modified with polymers or not. It also applies to all types of cut-back and fluxed bitumens, whether they are modified with polymers or not.
It is important to note that for cut-back and fluxed bituminous binders, this method is only an intermediate step. Following the recovery procedure, these binders need to undergo the stabilization procedure specified in EN 13074-2. However, direct testing of the recovered binder is used to evaluate the setting ability of fluxed bituminous binders made with vegetable fluxes. It should be noted that the recovered binder may not be identical to the initial binder.
