Symposium on Reinforced Concrete Columns
Also Known As:
ACI SP-13:1966 is a compilation of selected papers from a Symposium on Reinforced Concrete Columns. The volume is organized into 14 papers that focus on experimental and analytical studies of reinforced and prestressed concrete columns. The symposium was sponsored by the joint ACI-ASCE Committee 441, Reinforced Concrete Columns, with the aim of reviewing and correlating information on the analysis and design of concrete columns.
The papers included in ACI SP-13:1966 cover a wide range of topics related to concrete columns and their behavior under various loads. Some of the topics addressed include the perspective of reinforced concrete columns, critical review of design, tests of frames with columns, investigation of long concrete columns, and tests on slender prestressed concrete columns. Other papers discuss the effects of active triaxial stress on concrete elements, the influence of lateral tie spacing on ultimate strength, eccentrically loaded columns with variable cross-sections, and the effect of creep and shrinkage on column capacity.
