National regulations regarding the use of these machines in public road traffic also apply.

The standard addresses the significant hazards associated with road surface treatment machines through a risk assessment. It specifies technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks related to machine operation, setting and adjustments, load discharge, and routine maintenance. However, it does not cover hazards associated with pressurized tanks or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Requirements for carrier vehicles or special constructions are not included in this standard, as they are covered by directives related to vehicle construction. Vibrations are also not addressed, considering the low working speed and specific working conditions of these machines. The standard does not cover risks associated with operating the machines in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Additionally, while the standard does not include requirements of the 94/55/EC Directive on transport of dangerous goods by road, it contains additional specifications related to these existing requirements. It is important to note that the standard applies to machines manufactured after its approval by CEN.
