Standard EN SampleRailway Applications - Track - Performance Requirements for Fastening Systems - Fastening Systems for Wood Sleepers
Also Known As:
The BS EN 13481-3:2012 standard specifies the performance requirements for fastening systems used on wood sleepers in ballasted track. The standard applies to fastening systems in categories A - C and E, as defined in EN 13481-1:2012.
The standard sets out criteria for maximum design axle loads and minimum curve radii for each fastening category. The maximum axle load varies depending on the category, with categories A and B having exceptions for maintenance vehicles. The minimum curve radius also varies, with category A having a minimum radius of 40m and category E having a minimum radius of 150m.
The standard applies to fastening systems that act on the foot and/or web of the rail, including both direct and indirect fastening systems. It covers fastening systems for rail sections specified in EN 13674-1 and EN 13674-4+A1, excluding section 49E4. Other rail sections, rigid fastening systems, and special fastening systems used at bolted joints or glued joints are not covered by this standard.
It's important to note that this standard is specifically for type approval of complete fastening assemblies and does not cover individual components or materials used in the fastening systems.
