Railway Applications - Track - Performance Requirements for Fastening Systems - Part 4: Fastening Systems for Steel Sleepers
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13481-4 standard specifies the requirements for fastening systems used on rectilinear steel sleepers in ballasted tracks. This standard applies to track categories A - E, which have specific maximum axle loads and minimum curve radii as defined in Table 1. The maximum axle load criteria do not apply to maintenance vehicles.
The standard covers fastening systems that act on the foot and/or web of the rail, including direct fastening systems and those with a baseplate. It also includes fastening systems for rail sections specified in EN 13674-1 and EN 13674-4, while other rail sections, rigid fastening systems, and special fastening systems used at bolted joints are not within the scope of this standard.
It is important to note that this standard only applies to the type approval of a complete fastening assembly, ensuring that the fastening system meets the performance requirements specified.
