The BS EN 17468-2:2022 standard provides test methods for determining the pull through and shear resistance of fibre-cement profiled sheets. These tests are carried out in accordance with EN 494 and only apply to the fibre-cement product itself, not the complete fixing assembly.
The standard specifies that the tests are to be conducted using the products as delivered, without any modifications or additional components. The field of application for pull through resistance is defined in section 7.6, while the field of application for shear resistance is defined in section 8.6.
It's important to note that this standard does not cover the failure modes of pull-out and breaking of fixings or substructures in the final application. To address these aspects, relevant design standards for fixings should be followed (such as Eurocode 3 for steel, Eurocode 5 for wood, and Eurocode 9 for aluminum substructures). The results obtained from the pull-through and shear resistance tests should be compared with the requirements specified in the relevant design standards to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the fibre-cement profiled sheets in their final application.
