BS EN 17468-1:2022 is a standard that provides a method for evaluating the pull through resistance, shear resistance, bending strength, and bending modulus of elasticity of fibre cement flat sheets. The standard is specific to flat sheets used for internal and external wall and ceiling finishes. It does not apply to the complete fixing assembly.

The standard states that the results obtained are only applicable to the fibre-cement product being tested and not to the failure modes related to the fixing or substructure. These failure modes, such as pull-out or breaking of the fixing or substructure, should be assessed separately according to relevant design standards for fixings and substructures.

The results obtained from this standard are applicable to coated or uncoated sheets manufactured at the same production facility as the tested sheets, as long as they have the same type and declared class according to EN 12467:2012+A2:2018. The test method can be applied to both textured and non-textured fibre-cement flat sheets, with the results of non-textured sheets only being applicable to textured sheets if certain conditions are met.

The standard also provides guidelines for applying the results to different types of fixing heads or washer assemblies and specifies the allowed tolerances for the diameter and hardness of the sealing washer used in the test.

It is important to note that the standard applies only to fibre cement products as delivered and does not cover the installation or long-term performance of the products.
