Standard EN SampleMiscellaneous Road Traffic Signs and Devices: Requirements and Test Methods
Also Known As:
BS 8442:2015 is a UK standard that specifies the requirements and test methods for various road traffic signs and devices. This standard covers a wide range of items, including rigid and flexible portable signs, barriers, self-supporting portable signs, "Stop/Go" and "Stop/Works" signs, school crossing patrol signs, flat traffic delineators, flap signs, pedestrian crossing and refuge beacons, internally illuminated posts, twin amber flashing light units, non-retroreflecting road studs, and retroreflective self-righting bollards. However, it should be noted that non-retroreflecting road studs with active light sources are not covered in this standard.
This standard is important for road engineers, highway engineers, civil engineers, road signs and devices manufacturers, and local authorities. It provides specific requirements and test methods for these traffic signs and devices, which are not covered by the BS EN 12899 series. The standard was fully revised in 2015, with updates made to references to the BS EN 12899 series and the inclusion of new designs of trans-illuminated retroreflective self-righting bollards.
