Test Methods for Determining the Contribution to the Fire Resistance of Structural Members - Part 5: Applied Protection to Concrete/Profiled Sheet Steel Composite Member
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13381-5 standard provides a method for testing the fire resistance of structural members composed of concrete and profiled sheet steel, when protected with applied fire protection systems. This standard applies to different types of concrete, including lightweight, normal-weight, and heavy-weight concrete, with a range of strength classes. The test method allows for the evaluation of various thicknesses of fire protection materials used on the concrete/steel composite members or slabs.
The standard covers a wide range of fire protection materials, such as sprayed materials, coatings, cladding protection systems, and multi-layer or composite fire protection materials. These materials can be applied with or without a cavity between the fire protection material and the concrete/steel composite members.
The main focus of this standard is on determining the ability of the fire protection system to remain coherent and fixed to the composite member during a fire. Additionally, the standard measures and analyzes the temperatures of the steel sheet, the depth of the concrete, and the unexposed surface of the concrete under the defined standard temperature/time curve. The goal is to assess the contribution of the applied fire protection to the overall fire resistance of the structural members or slabs.
