Prefabricated Reinforced Components of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete

The DIN EN 12602 standard specifies the requirements for prefabricated reinforced components made of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) used in construction. These components can be used for both structural and non-structural purposes. Structural elements include load-bearing wall components, retaining wall components, roof components, floor components, and linear components such as beams and piers. Non-structural elements include non-load-bearing wall components, cladding components for external facades, small box culverts for services enclosure, and components for noise barriers.
In addition to their load-bearing and encasing functions, these components can also provide fire resistance, sound insulation, and thermal insulation as indicated in the relevant clauses of the standard. However, the standard specifies that the components are only intended to be subjected to predominantly non-dynamic actions unless special measures are introduced.
The term "reinforced" refers to the use of reinforcement for both structural and non-structural purposes. The standard does not cover the application of these components in structures, joints (except for their strength, integrity, and resistance to fire), fixtures, or finishes for external components such as tiling. It is also noted that AAC components may be used in noise barriers if they meet the requirements of EN 14388 as well.
