The DIN EN 13848-2 standard outlines the minimum requirements for track geometry measuring principles and systems. The purpose of this standard is to ensure that track measurements taken using different systems yield comparable results. It applies to all types of measuring systems, whether attended or unattended, installed on any vehicle, except for those specifically covered in other standards.
This standard only applies to measuring systems that have been put into service after the implementation of the standard. It does not specify requirements for the acceptance of vehicles. Additionally, it does not cover measuring systems that are dedicated to urban rail systems.
