The DIN EN 13848-2 standard sets out the minimum requirements for track geometry measuring principles and systems. The aim of this standard is to ensure that consistent and comparable results are obtained when measuring the same track. The standard is applicable to all types of measuring systems, whether attended or unattended, and fitted on any vehicle, with the exception of systems specified in EN 13848-3 and EN 13848-4. It should be noted that this standard only applies to systems that are put into service after the standard comes into force and does not define the requirements for vehicle acceptance. Additionally, the standard does not apply to measuring systems dedicated to Urban Rail Systems.
