Railway Applications - Track - Performance Requirements for Fastening Systems - Part 7: Fastening Systems for Switches and Crossings, Check Rails, Insulated Rail Joints, and Rail Expansion Devices
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 13481-7 standard specifies performance requirements for special fastening systems used in switches and crossings, check rails, insulated rail joints, and rail expansion devices. These fastening systems are categorized from A to E based on EN 13481-1:2012 and are used to secure rails on wood, concrete, and steel bearers in ballasted track or on slab track.
The standard defines the maximum design axle loads and minimum curve radii for different categories of fastening systems. It also provides a table that specifies the criteria for each category, including the maximum design axle load and the minimum curve radius for each category. Notably, the maximum axle load for Categories A and B does not apply to maintenance vehicles. The requirements outlined in this standard only apply to rail sections included in the EN13674 series of standards, excluding 49E4 rail sections. It is important to note that this standard does not apply to fastening systems for other rail sections or rigid fastening systems used on running rails. The standard is intended for the type approval of complete fastening systems.
