Precast Concrete Products: Elements for Fences

The DIN EN 12839 standard establishes the specifications for precast concrete products used for constructing fences. These products can be made of reinforced or prestressed concrete, with or without fibres. The standard covers a range of elements such as posts, panels, slabs, rails, spurs, struts, and base panels, which can be used individually or in combination to create fences, including boundary fences.
The standard addresses both the mechanical resistance of the elements, determined through calculations, as well as their load-bearing capacity, determined through testing. The elements can be made from normal weight concrete or lightweight concrete, and their intended uses can range from nonstructural to lightly structural applications.
In addition to specifying the technical requirements for the products, the standard also provides guidelines for the evaluation of conformity to ensure that the elements meet the requirements set forth in this European standard. Furthermore, the standard includes requirements for marking the products to indicate their compliance with the standard.
