ISO 5003:2016 is a standard that outlines the specifications for flat bottom (vignole) railway rails with a linear mass of 43 kg/m and above. The standard covers the terms and definitions, as well as the information that should be provided by the purchaser. The standard specifies 19 pearlitic steel grades, which range from 200 HBW to 400 HBW in terms of hardness.
