Standard EN SamplePrecast Concrete Products - Beam-and-Block Floor Systems - Expanded Polystyrene Blocks
Also Known As:
BS EN 15037-4:2010+A1:2013 is a European standard that establishes the requirements and performance criteria for expanded polystyrene (EPS) blocks used in beam-and-block floor systems. These EPS blocks are intended to be used in conjunction with precast concrete beams, with or without cast-in-situ concrete. The standard also allows for EPS blocks that are combined with other materials, such as plaster or wood wool, as long as these materials do not contribute to more than 50% of the mechanical resistance of the block.
This standard applies specifically to EPS blocks that are used in beam-and-block floor systems, as defined in Annex B of EN 15037-1:2008. It does not cover lightweight blocks used for simple formwork, which are covered by EN 15037-5. The standard provides guidelines and requirements to ensure the structural integrity and performance of these EPS blocks in the construction of beam-and-block floor systems.
