Standard EN SamplePrecast Concrete Products - Beam-and-Block Floor Systems - Lightweight Blocks for Simple Formwork
Also Known As:
BS EN 15037-5:2013 is a European Standard that focuses on the requirements and performance criteria for lightweight blocks used as formwork in the construction of beam-and-block floor systems. The standard specifically covers the use of these blocks in conjunction with precast concrete beams, whether with or without cast-in-situ concrete.
It is important to note that the standard does not apply to blocks made primarily of polystyrene or blocks made from a combination of materials where polystyrene contributes to more than 50% of the mechanical resistance of the block. Blocks falling under these categories are covered by EN 15037-4, which specifically addresses expanded polystyrene blocks.
To provide further clarity and guidance, Annex B of EN 15037-1:2008 provides examples of typology of floor systems that conform to the requirements outlined in this standard.
