BS EN 13381-7:2019 is a standard that provides test methods for determining the contribution of fire protection kits to the fire resistance of structural timber members. It covers various fire protection kits such as claddings, sprayed fire protection, and reactive coatings that are used to protect timber members from fire. The standard specifies the test to be carried out to evaluate the ability of the fire protection kit to delay temperature rise, remain fixed to the timber member, and determine the charring rate of the protected test member under standard temperature/time curve conditions.

The standard is applicable to loadbearing timber structural members including floors, roofs, walls, beams, and columns. It does not classify the tested assembly according to EN 13501-2. The fire test methodology outlined in the standard provides data that can be used in the calculation of fire resistance of timber members according to EN 1995-1-2. The relationship between the test method and the assessment of results to EN 1995-1-2, as well as guidelines for using the test method in accordance with that standard, are provided in Annex B.

The standard also includes an assessment that guides the analysis of the test data and provides procedures for interpolation. It defines the limits of applicability for the results obtained from the fire test and specifies the direct application of those results to different timber constructions with the specified thickness and fixation of the fire protection kit tested.
