Gully Tops and Manhole Tops for Vehicular and Pedestrian Areas - Part 2: Gully Tops and Manhole Tops Made of Cast Iron
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 124-2 standard specifies the requirements for gully tops and manhole tops made of cast iron. These components are used for covering gullies, manholes, and inspection chambers in areas that experience pedestrian and/or vehicular traffic. The standard covers various classes of load-bearing capacity, ranging from areas only used by pedestrians and pedal cyclists to areas with high wheel loads such as docks and aircraft pavements.
The standard outlines the clear opening size of the gully tops and manhole tops, which is up to and including 1000 mm. It also provides guidance for combinations of covers/gratings made of cast iron with frames according to other parts of the DIN EN 124 series.
However, the standard does not cover fillings installed on-site, such as concrete or paving blocks. It also excludes certain types of gratings and covers, such as concave gratings for certain load classes installed in specific areas, gratings/covers as part of prefabricated drainage channels, and floor and roof gullies in buildings.
