Standard EN SampleGully Tops and Manhole Tops for Vehicular and Pedestrian Areas - Gully Tops and Manhole Tops Made of Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE) or Unplasticized Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC-U)
Also Known As:
BS EN 124-6:2015 is a European standard that applies to gully tops and manhole tops made of polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), or unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U). These tops are produced through a moulding or extrusion process and have a clear opening up to and including 1,000mm. They are designed to cover gullies, manholes, and inspection chambers in areas with pedestrian and/or vehicular traffic.
The standard specifies the use of these tops in different classes of areas. This includes areas exclusively for pedestrians and pedal cyclists (class A 15), as well as pedestrian areas, car parks, or car parking decks (class B 125). The standard also provides guidance for the combination of these tops with frames in accordance with other European standards, such as EN 124-2, EN 124-3, EN 124-4, and EN 124-5.
It is important to note that this standard cannot be applied in isolation but must be used in combination with EN 124-1. Additionally, it does not cover rodding point covers, gratings/covers for prefabricated drainage channels, floor and roof gullies in buildings (specified in EN 1253), or surface boxes. This standard focuses specifically on gully tops and manhole tops for vehicular and pedestrian areas made of PP, PE, or PVC-U materials.
