Gully Tops and Manhole Tops for Vehicular and Pedestrian Areas - Part 6: Gully Tops and Manhole Tops Made of Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE) or Unplasticized Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC-U)
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 124-6 standard specifies the requirements for manhole tops and gully tops made of polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) or unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) for use in pedestrian and vehicular areas. The standard applies to products manufactured through moulding or extrusion processes, with a clear opening size up to and including 1000 mm. These covers are designed to be used in areas that are accessible to pedestrians, pedal cyclists, and vehicles.
The standard classifies manhole tops and gully tops into two categories: class A 15 for areas limited to pedestrians and pedal cyclists, and class B 125 for pedestrian areas, car parks, and car parking decks. The standard provides guidance on the combination of covers/grating made of PP, PE, or PVC-U with frames according to other related DIN EN 124 standards.
It is important to note that the DIN EN 124-6 standard cannot be used in isolation but must be used in conjunction with DIN EN 124-1. This standard does not include rodding point covers, gratings/covers in prefabricated drainage channels, floor and roof gullies in buildings (which are covered by other standards), and surface boxes.
