Standard EN SampleStructural Steel - Hot-Rolled Plates, Floorplates, and Slabs
Also Known As:
AS/NZS 3678:1996 is a standard that specifies the requirements for the production and supply of hot-rolled structural steel plates, floorplates, and slabs. It covers different types of steel, including carbon and carbon-manganese mechanically-tested steels, fully-killed analysis-only steels, and low-alloy (weathering) mechanically-tested steels.
This standard is suitable for general structural and engineering applications. The steel grades specified in this standard can be used for welding, riveting, and bolting, according to the relevant Australian and New Zealand standards.
However, it is important to note that this standard does not cover certain types of structural steel. It does not include hot-rolled bars and sections, welded I sections, steel plates for pressure equipment, structural steel hollow sections, hot-rolled steel flat products, and quenched and tempered plate for structural and pressure vessel steel.
The standard provides guidelines for purchasers on the requirements that should be specified and those that should be agreed upon during the ordering process. It also provides guidelines for demonstrating compliance with the standard and offers guidance on the cold-bending and hot-forming of plates during fabrication.
